On Jan. 14, Dingdong Maicai signed a strategic cooperation agreement with SanLucar, a globally leading Spanish fruit and vegetable company. The two parties announced that they would carry out in-depth cooperation in areas including supply chain collaboration, product innovation and market promotion.

At the signing ceremony for the agreement, the two parties announced that they would engage in direct sourcing for premium fruit categories, including cherries and blueberries, with the value of cooperative orders in 2026 expected to reach at least 40 million Chinese yuan ($5.7 million). Currently, two SanLucar-supplied cherry and blueberry products have already been launched on the Dingdong Maicai platform, and the range is expected to expand to 10 products by the end of 2026.

Liang Changlin, chairman and CEO of Dingdong Maicai, said that the company looks forward to in-depth exchanges with SanLucar in areas such as sales, efficiency optimization and upstream cultivation. He emphasized that the cooperation is not merely a buyer/seller relationship, but rather a joint effort to continuously refine and enhance product variety, quality and stability over time.

Armin Rehberg, CEO of SanLucar, commented that Dingdong Maicai has strong channel capabilities and deep consumer insights, making it an important partner for SanLucar’s expansion on the Chinese market. He added that through this collaboration, they look forward to bringing delicious fruits from premium growing regions around the world to more Chinese households.

Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Spain, SanLucar is one of the world’s largest fruit companies, with operations in more than 40 countries and a portfolio of over 120 fruit and vegetable varieties. The company generates an annual revenue exceeding 1 billion euros ($1.16 billion) and is widely recognized in the industry for its top-tier orchard management in three core categories: blueberries, strawberries and citrus.

Under this partnership, Dingdong Maicai will leverage its self-built overseas supply chain “Hata” to deliver fruits from SanLucar’s global production origins directly to the tables of Chinese consumers, achieving true end-to-end overseas direct sourcing. At present, the Hata import supply chain spans more than 20 countries and regions across the Americas, Oceania and Africa, with products covering fruits, seafood, snacks, meat and poultry.
