Back to topPeru’s 2026/27 Blueberry Export Forecast Falls 14.9% to 344,000 Tons

According to a recent report by Blueberries Consulting, the Peruvian Blueberry Growers Association (Proarándanos) further lowered its forecast for fresh blueberry exports to approximately 344,000 metric tons in its sixth forecast for the 2026/27 season. The latest estimate is 6.1% below the 366,000 metric tons forecast made in early October and 10.3% lower than the approximately 383,000 metric tons exported in the previous season.
The forecast for the 2026/27 season has been revised downward from the initial August estimate of 404,000 metric tons to the current 344,000 metric tons, representing a cumulative reduction of 60,000 metric tons, or approximately 14.9%.
As of week 40, Peru had exported 163,500 metric tons of fresh blueberries, up 4.5% from the 156,500 metric tons exported during the same period of the previous season. However, the year-on-year growth rate has narrowed significantly in recent weeks, from 18.7% in week 38 to 4.5% in week 40. The association said that weather conditions in recent weeks have negatively affected blueberry growth in orchards.
The association predicts that blueberry exports in the 2026/27 season will peak in week 40 at approximately 14,600 metric tons, a sharp 30.1% decline from the 20,900 metric tons exported during the same week of the previous season. Exports from week 41 to week 53 are projected at 133,500 metric tons, down 24.7% from the 177,300 metric tons exported during the same period of last season.
During the final stage of the season, from January to April 2027, exports are expected to reach 46,600 metric tons, 5.3% below the 49,200 metric tons exported during the same period of the previous season. Seasonal rainfall is expected to have a significant impact on export volumes, making this period the most uncertain part of the forecast.
Total organic blueberry exports have been revised slightly down to an estimated 24,500 metric tons, 31.2% lower than the 35,600 metric tons exported in the previous season. The export peak is expected in week 47, at approximately 1,000 metric tons, compared with the previous season’s peak of 1,900 metric tons in week 40.
The association said that it will update its forecasts more frequently this season, with the next assessment expected to take place in the first week of November.
