Joy Wing Mau Unveils Snowball Coconut at 8th China International Import Expo

November 19, 2025

During the 8th China International Import Expo, Joy Wing Mau Group’s overseas division unveiled its new product, the Joyvio Snowball Coconut. A coconut-trimming master from Thailand gave a live demonstration showing how a young coconut is transformed into a Snowball Coconut, drawing considerable attention from both the media and other visitors.

The Snowball Coconut is made from a proprietary Thai variety — known in Chinese as the perfume milk coconut — grown in Damnoen Saduak, a core production region in central Thailand. Through an innovative de-shelling process, the product keeps both the coconut water and meat fully intact, offering a convenient consumption experience. Its versatile format makes it suitable for a wide range of occasions, including at home, camping, the office, sports and more.

Produce Report interviewed Yang Peng, director for coconut products at Joy Wing Mau. He explained that with conventional coconut products, it is difficult to eat the meat, and most consumers simply discard the coconut after drinking the juice. He noted that the Snowball Coconut solves this problem, allowing people to enjoy both the juice and the meat with ease.

Joy Wing Mau’s import volume of young coconuts from Thailand has long ranked among the highest in the country. In recent years, coconut juice has gained popularity in international markets, yet domestic demand has remained relatively lukewarm. Yang explained that while consumers want to buy coconut juice, what they often end up drinking is not genuine coconut juice, which not only disappoints consumers but also leads to wasted resources. He added that the company aims to let consumers enjoy an authentic coconut and reshape their perception of coconut products. At the same time, he noted that the Snowball Coconut format enhances the added value of coconuts, transforming them from a raw agricultural commodity into a premium consumer product.

The Snowball Coconut is now available year-round with a stable supply. Young coconuts are processed directly into Snowball Coconuts at Joy Wing Mau’s plant in Thailand. After quick-freeze sterilization and other procedures, the products are packaged and exported to the Chinese market. Because fresh young coconuts have a short shelf life, sterilization and freezing significantly extend their durability. In the future, the product will also be exported to other markets, including Europe, the United States, the Middle East and elsewhere.

Yang added that many tourist sites in China now sell similar coconut products, but these have a short shelf life, cannot be transported, and involve high labor and spoilage costs. Joy Wing Mau’s plant in Thailand is located adjacent to the orchards and integrates young coconut processing, mature coconut processing and deep processing of coconut-based products into a single facility — creating a “super factory” for coconut production. Snowball Coconut processing has now achieved semi-mechanization, with machines assisting in the manual handling of young coconuts, greatly improving efficiency. In the future, the plant’s processing capacity is expected to reach 100,000 coconuts per day. All equipment and techniques used for production were developed in-house by Joy Wing Mau and have received recognition from Thailand’s Ministry of Industry.
