Apples (⇩)

The Southern Hemisphere season is coming to a close, while goods still lingering on retail shelves are often showing their age. Over the past three weeks, New Zealand accounted for just over 50% of imports, with South Africa holding about 37% followed by Chile.

Avocados (⇨)

At the retail level, avocado pricing remains in line with last year’s pricing at approximately ¥58 ($8.65) per kilogram.

Blueberries (⇧)

Imported blueberry pricing lifted this week across the board with Magica, Sekoya Pop, Mega Early and others seeing gains. This is a much-welcomed shift as pricing has been decreasing since week 32 and is currently well below the 2024 season (−40% to −50%), as well as below 2025.

Grapefruit (⇨)

Difficult is an understatement for this season’s South African grapefruit season. It is reminiscent of 2022, when PP-grade fruit put pressure on the rest of the market.

Lemons (⇨)

South African lemon pricing has remained rather stable at around ¥160–180 (15 kg, #100–138s), which is about 35% below the same week of last season.

Oranges (⇩)

The orange market took a rather large step down in price this week, with South Africa retaining about 80% market share over the past three weeks. Midknight is the most dominant variety (40%) and is presently priced in line with last season and only 4% below 2024.

Soft Citrus (⇩)

Similar to the orange market, soft citrus pricing also declined sharply this week. Australia and South Africa share the market rather evenly with only limited arrivals from Peru. Australian Honey Murcott is pricing in line with 2025, while South African Nadorcott is priced as much as 35% below 2025.
