Apples (⇨)

This week the imported apple market remained rather steady for the most abundantly supplied varieties such as Royal Gala and NZ Queen. NZ Royal Gala was trading at an average of ¥266 (18 kg, various sizes); by comparison, South African goods were trading at a value of ¥228 (18 kg, various sizes). Chilean Royal Gala were trading in a far wider range compared with goods from New Zealand and South Africa, and this was due to a wider selection of grades on offer such as Extra Fancy/Choice. It should be noted that all three regions are priced below the previous two seasons. Full wholesale details, as well as Chinese retail pricing, are available online. View market data.

Avocados (⇩)

Pricing for imported Hass continued to decline this week. Peruvian goods were trading at ¥40–65 (4 kg, #18–24s), as their Kenyan peers were lower at around the ¥30–35 level (4 kg, #20–24s). At the Chinese retail level, pricing is on par with the previous season at around ¥57 per kilogram. Needless to say, there is definitely a margin between the wholesale and retail situation. Grapefruit (⇨)

Fortunately, Star Ruby pricing remained steady during week 23 after a lower starting price for the South African season. At present, we are at familiar levels, around 7% firmer than the same week of 2024 and a modest 3% below 2025. Full brand details are available online. View market data.

Lemons (⇩)

Both Australian and South African lemons are available in the market, with Australian goods commanding a premium. This week saw the recorded pricing decrease, placing lemon prices below both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. At the retail level, the average price is only modestly below 2025 at ¥25.80 per kilogram. Oranges (⇩)

The orange market remains challenging for imported goods (Egypt, United States and Spain) as domestic oranges remain very competitively priced and demand in general is said to be lower than normal. Presently, Egyptian Valencia is trading at 53% below last year’s average and 26% below 2024. Full details can be found online. View market data.
