Apples (⇧)

New Zealand remains the dominant force in the apple market, supplying over 74% of recent volumes, with Royal Gala being a key variety. NZ Royal Gala prices firmed to an average of ¥271 (18 kg), trading between ¥240 and ¥295; while lower than the same time last year, prices are notably higher than the season before. South African arrivals are increasing; Royal Gala from South Africa is averaging around ¥260 (18 kg), while Royal Beaut saw a significant firming during the week. Grapes (⇩)

Chile continues to lead the grape market, accounting for almost 60% of recent supply, with Australia as the next major player. Prices for Chilean Red Globe eased to an average of ¥153 (8.2 kg), trading in a wide range of ¥90–210, which is 20.4% lower compared to last year and also tracking well below the 2023 season’s levels. Australian Crimson (9.5 kg) also saw a slight decrease, averaging ¥206, and is also trading well below last year. View more.

Grapefruit (⇩)

The market has received further South African Star Ruby arrivals. Prices for Star Ruby eased this week to an average of ¥261 (15 kg), with a trading range of ¥235–280. While prices are a touch softer than the same period of last year, they remain substantially firmer than in 2023. Further information is available online.

Oranges (⇨)

Egypt commands the orange market with over 84% of recent volumes, predominantly Valencia oranges, which held stable at an average of ¥137 (15 kg). This pricing shows a healthy increase compared to last year. The United States and Spain also contribute to the available imported supply but to a lesser extent. View more.
