The Philippines Chosen as the Partner Country for ChinaFVF 2017

August 24, 2017

The China International Fruit and Vegetable Fair (ChinaFVF 2017) will be held in Beijing on November 3–5, 2017 with an exhibition area of 12,000 square meters, double that of last year’s event. Under the theme of “Fresh Innovation Drives Leading Industry Brands”, the fair is expected to attract more than 350 exhibitors from 25 countries and 30,000 visitors from over 35 countries, with 500 varieties and 1,200 brands being exhibited during the show. All of these will continue to consolidate the status of the fair, which is seen by many in the industry as the most authoritative, international, and professional exhibition in China.

Following much discussion and consideration, this year the Philippines will be the partner country for ChinaFVF. China and the Philippines are two of the major countries under the Belt and Road Initiative, and professionals from the two countries will work together to carry out a series of activities utilizing the resources platform of FVF and the growing advantages of the Philippines to promote the cooperation and development of the fresh produce industry.

The Philippines Pavilion, led by the Department of Agriculture, will showcase well-known fruit and vegetable enterprises and products, both for produce where the entry protocols have currently been established, as in the case of pineapples, bananas, mangos, and papayas, and for those where they are still pending, such as avocados, dragon fruits, and frozen fruits, etc. The pavilion will be located in Zone A in Hall E3.

According to statistics, the Philippines is the 7th largest mango producer in the world, with an annual output of about 650,000–750,000 tons. Hong Kong is the top importer  of Philippine mangos, accounting for 80% of the total export volume. The Philippines is also the world’s second largest banana producer, with a 95% share of the Asian market. In 2015, the Philippines exported 448,000 tons of bananas to China with a value of $158 million. The Philippines has witnessed a 50% increase in fruit exports to China since the ban was lifted in 2016. These developments will open the door to further trade between the two countries.

ChinaFVF 2017 will be a highly collaborative event between domestic and international industry professionals, bringing more and more international exhibitors and professional visitors to the exhibition and helping lead the industry to develop a new direction. We sincerely invite you to join us!
