FDK China Market Update — Week 29

Apples (⇩)

New Zealand continues to dominate the wholesale and retail segment for imported apples. Prices for NZ Royal Gala were largely stable, averaging ¥294 (18 kg), trading slightly below last year’s levels. NZ Dazzle was also steady at around ¥382 (18 kg), a price point 12% higher than the previous year. South African Fuji Red prices eased to an average of ¥244 (18 kg). View market data.

Avocados (★)

Peruvian goods are dominating supply in China and are trading at an average of ¥75 (4 kg) and ¥175 (10 kg). Visit us online to view further wholesale details as well as retail pricing in major channels. View market data.

Grapefruit ()

South African Star Ruby pricing lifted this week to average ¥142 (15 kg), a level that is almost 30% higher than last year and 13% firmer than the 2023 season. View market data.

Lemons (⇩)

The imported lemon offer remains rather scarce; however, the market pricing remains very attractive at 66% higher than 2023 and 120% higher than last season. Full details including retail pricing are available to members. View market data.

Oranges (⇩)

South African Valencia prices firmed to average at ¥176 (15 kg), trading slightly above last year. By contrast, Australian navels were stable in price and were trading at 10% below 2024 prices. South African navel prices eased to ¥165 (15 kg), also lower than the same week of last season. Egyptian Valencias, while declining in volume, held steady and are a full 40+% firmer than a year ago; exporters will be very happy with the pricing. View market data.

Soft Citrus ()

The soft citrus market showed more mixed pricing this week, with diverse supply from South Africa, Peru and Australia. South African Nadorcott prices declined during the week, as Nova also softened to average around ¥120 (10 kg). Conversely, Peruvian Tango showed strength, with prices lifting to ¥135 (10 kg) — over 50% higher than last season’s average. View market data.
