New Market to Play Key Role in Eastern China Imported Fruit Distribution

The Jiaxing Haiguangxing Premium Fruit Market started trial operations Monday in the heart of the Yangtze River Delta. The import-focused 125,000m2 wholesale fruit market broke ground in April of this year and includes 25,000m2 of floor space dedicated to trading stalls and a separate container-based trading area with capacity for 300 containers.

Asiafruit Congress Celebrates 20 Years of Development in Asian Markets

“Over the past two decades, imports of fresh fruit by key Asian markets from both within Asia and outside Asia have more than doubled, increasing 140%,” from 4.9 million tons to 11.8 million tons said Asiafruit Magazine Editor John Hey. In Indonesia alone, imports have gone up 10 times from 60,000 to 670,000 tons over that period, according to Hey.

Longyun Foods: A Look Inside a Modern Chinese Vegetable Grower/Processer

Nestled in a serene valley at a height of over 2,000 meters in western Yunnan province, Longyun was founded in 2004, mainly processing and exporting garlic and wild mushroom-based products, to Europe. Over the years, Longyun added more products, including fresh vegetables, slow-roasted tomatoes, frozen chargrilled vegetables. Longyun in 2013 also added a new wholly-owned farming subsidiary, Shenglong Modern Farm, with more than 500 hectares of fields growing a range of vegetables nearby its processing facilities.

Frozen Whole Durian from Malaysia Gain China Market Access

The whole (in-husk) frozen whole fruits can be directly eaten by consumers as a substitute in the off season when fresh durian is not available from Thailand—the only country currently permitted to export fresh durian to China. Before export of frozen whole durians can begin, Malaysian authorities must submit to China a list of exporting durian plantations, processing facilities and other information.

China's Registered Fruit Exporters: Who, What and Where Are They?

According to China Customs statistics, China exported 3.61 million tons of fresh fruits in 2017, down 1.8% YOY. The total value of fresh fruit exports in 2017 was $5.34 billion—down 2.9% YOY. The average price per ton of exported fruit was US$ 1,478.62, which was down $17.8 per ton, or 1.2%, YOY.

Beetroute Aims to Make Beets Easy for Chinese Consumers

BeetRoute brand ready-to-eat beets are imported from Holland, where they are grown in the southwestern province of Zeeland. They are different from normal beets because they’re pre-peeled and pre-cooked, meaning they are ready to chop and add to a salad or other dish without extensive prep work. They are also vacuum sealed and can be stored for up to six months without refrigeration.
