Blueberries (⇧)

Wholesale pricing for imported blueberries increased this week by around 12% or ¥10 per carton on most sound-quality openings. Peruvian imports still hold the dominant position, but over the last two weeks Chile has accounted for about 20% of recorded openings. Similar to Peru, Chilean blueberries are priced below the previous two seasons, with Duke between ¥65 and ¥75 (1.5 kg) and Suziblue priced similarly. Peruvian Magica and Ventura are both approximately 15% lower in price than the same week of last year. For full market details, visit our website. View market data.

Cherries (⇩)

New Zealand cherries have been delayed due to cold, as Chilean goods control the market. The first notable influxes of Kordia and Regina were received during week 2, with market pricing similar to that of last year. For Kordia and Regina, the size-based price difference was enormous, with as much as a ¥300 difference between XLD and 3JD. This was not as visible for Santina or Lapins, which had a difference of about ¥150 between XLD and 4JD. One would expect that the price range between these goods will move closer together as more Kordia and Regina become available. At the retail level, pricing declined to average ¥79.00 (1 kg), which is 19% lower compared with the same week of last season. In addition, 2.5-kilogram gift packs account for a dominant share of retailer offers. View market data.

Grapes (★)

The first Peruvian grapes have recently started to arrive, with records of Autumn Crisp and Ivory available. At present, Autumn Crisp is priced between ¥440 and ¥460 (3J/4J, 7.3 kg), which is considerably above the starting point recorded in the previous two seasons. Domestic grapes, however, remain well supplied, with export markets such as Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East all still featuring Chinese grapes. View market data.

Plums (★)

The market for Chilean plums is still currently in low supply, with only a few varieties featuring such as Candy Pixie, Dino Pixie and Cherry Plum. Wholesale openings and pricing data are available online. View market data.
