Say ‘I Do’ to Cherries on Valentine’s Day: Feb. 5 Update

On Feb. 5, the Chilean Cherry Committee of the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) continued its efforts to promote cherry consumption and support cherry traders.

A wide range of online and offline promotions and other communications efforts are ongoing across China. Highlights for today are as follows:

Romantic Valentine’s Day with Cherries from Chile

Falling as it does this year during the Spring Festival holiday, it can be easy to overlook that Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 is a perfect opportunity for cherry gifting. After all, cherries are in the shape of a heart and the color of romance! In order to get everybody in the mood for showing their love with Cherries from Chile this Valentine’s day, the Chilean Cherry Committee prepared and filmed the perfect romantic Valentine’s Day dinner for one lucky couple in Shanghai. TikTok Influencers Highlight Cherry Gifting

Influential users on TikTok China have lately been uploading widely watched videos showing different scenarios for gifting cherries during the leadup to the celebration of Chinese New Year. For example, a boss gives cherries not only to his romantic partner but also to his work team.

Chain Fruit Shops Promoting Cherries

Xianfeng on February 3 launched its New Year shopping festival, which will feature cherry promotions at its nearly 2,500 stores across China. Xianfeng estimates it will sell 30,000 tons of cherries by the time the Lunar New Year arrives.

Pagoda is naturally also holding its own New Year shopping festival which features cherries, as well as spreading the word about the Cherries from Chile Chinese New Year 1.8 Million Yuan Super Lucky Draw via in-store posters. The nationwide retailer has also recently published a WeChat official account article outlining the health and safety measures in place for cherries and reassuring customers of the products safety.

Furthermore, the Chilean Cherry Committee’s own in-store activities continue to run in partnership with over 20 leading fruit retailers around China, with more than 14,000 sessions planned to be completed by the New Year.
