Avocados (⇩)

The wholesale market has declined strongly in price during weeks 46–48, and week 49 was similar. Peruvian goods remain readily available and are in direct competition with Chilean produce. Small volumes of Philippine, New Zealand and domestic Yunnan Hass avocados are available too. Peruvian Hass avocados were priced between ¥60 and ¥90 but were mostly moving at around ¥70 to ¥75 (4 kg, #20-24s). Chilean goods were priced slightly firmer by ¥5–10. View market data.

Blueberries (⇨)

Magica remains the most dominant imported variety recorded, accounting for 60% of recorded container openings. Ventura, Sekoya Pop, Bianca, Biloxi and others account for the balance. Regardless of variety, blueberries are trading visibly below the same week of the 2023 season by 38% to 43%. Average retail pricing (including Walmart, Vanguard, Hema, Pagoda, RT-Mart, AEON and others), however, is rather similar to the previous season at ¥14.50 (125 g). Cherries (⇩)

Supply is on the rise, and this is having a direct impact on pricing, which has from the outset started below both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Santina still accounts for over 80% of the market and declined by between ¥50 and ¥80 versus week 48. As a result, pricing is 32% lower than the same week of last year. Five-kilogram Santina cartons averaged at the following values: ¥565 for 4JD, ¥470 for 3JD, ¥405 for 2JD, ¥320 for JD and ¥265 for XLD.
