FDK China Market Update — Week 7 [1]

Apples (⇨)

Southern Hemisphere imports are yet to begin. However, when one visits retailers across China they find price tags showing that certain goods are from New Zealand. This is half-true, as there are very old stocks of well-known brands, but mostly the products marketed as from New Zealand are actually from the United States. Currently, China dominates the shelf space at retail level, followed by France and the United States. Chinese Fuji apples are priced mostly between ¥20.80 and ¥28.90 (1 kg), which is rather in line with the previous season’s values. View market data [4].

Blueberries (⇨)

Chinese goods dominate the landscape for blueberries, with less than 20% of imported blueberries being recorded by our team across a collection of eight well-known retailers. Retail pricing declined from ¥20.25 (125 g) last week to ¥16.12 (125 g) this week. Substitute goods such as raspberries and blackberries were averaging at around ¥23.50 (125 g). Cherries (⇧)

Regina dominates the offering from Chile, accounting for approximately 62% of openings during weeks 5–7. This is followed by Lapins at about 26%. Price movements varied, either moving upward for Lapins and Regina or moving rather sideways for varieties such as Kordia. Regina lifted strongly in the final days before Chinese New Year began, with 3JD (5 kg) rising from ¥220 in week 6 to ¥378 in week 7, while 2JD rose from ¥187 to ¥330 (5 kg). Lapins remained about 50% below the 2024 season and still 6% below the same week of 2025, whereas Regina surged to be only 11% below the 2024 values, which was 70% firmer than last season. Full details are available to members. View market data [6].

Grapes (⇧)

Market prices lifted this week, with a selection of Peruvian, Chilean and Australian grapes available. Peruvian Red Globe is currently priced over 20% firmer than the same week of both 2024 and 2025 at between ¥230 and ¥260 (8.2 kg, various sizes), but volumes are minimal. Peruvian Autumn Crisp as well as Sweet Globe lifted in price and were much firmer than the lows of 2024 and rather similar to the values we noted in 2025. For details about Chilean Sable, Sweet Favors and Ralli, as well as Australian air-freight opening prices, visit us online. View market data [7].

Plums (★)

The plum (as well as nectarine) offering is on the rise, with price movements largely depending on the variety in question. During the past three weeks, the main varieties on offer have been Candy Pixie, Candy Red, Red Phoenix and Candy Stripe. Members are able to search between all arriving varieties and view the market pricing by size as well as compared with the previous two seasons. View market data [8].
